I’m Ding Neng (Marcus). I’m the guy you see in the pic up there, and one who write and share his entrepreneurial adventures, and whatever I does that may impact your life.
I’m currently an undergrad from NTU, and an entrepreneur of my life. I’m on a mission to create a life I want to live and enjoy, and in the mean time, helping people to create a life they deserved too.
I don’t have a big car and I don’t stay in big private houses. I’m not a millionaire too. But what I do have, is my lovely girlfriend of 5 years, a loving family, awesome friends, amazing partners, my Macbook, my violin, and the connections & relationships I have with people from all walks of life.

My Story
I used to be someone who did quite well in school. I achieve quite a lot of ‘A’s in my school life, with the aim filling top honors to beautify my resume. However, my direction changed when met the reality of work life when I’m serving my National Service, as part of duty for every fit Singaporean guy – thanks to a self-help book!
In my 2-year stint, I realized that things are not always as smooth-sailing as we want to be. And the biggest lesson I learn, is to take control of your own life. That’s after seeing how my life is being manipulated by people of questionable ethics. Anyway, that’s the past! But I’m thankful that I experienced and learned it at an age of 20.

Entrepreneur-ing
In 2009, I created my first website, based on my passion of violin, and sold it for a sum of money.
In 2009, I partnered with a network marketing company, but the founders go to jail a few months later. It’s an illegal company, that’s why. (Everyone had their first in everything, and Yay! I had my first!)
While many friends left the industry, I’m thankful that I still have a few buddies with me, committed to learn more on how the whole industry works, and what it takes to succeed. I also invest in courses to learn about communication, public speaking, motivation, online marketing & social media marketing.

Why Young Entrepreneur Blog?
I first set up my blog Ding-Neng.com as a way to create my presence online, a place where people can find out more about me and what I do, just by searching for my name in Google.
Then as time goes by, I intend to note down my entrepreneurial journey while building my business – what I did, what works, what’s not, how I overcome them, what I achieve. Sometimes, i do share strong opinions about certain topics, but I try not to digress from what I do.
I also support any charitable and society causes which I feel which are important to make the world a better place. I’m not trying to be noble, but I do like to use my blog to spread any important message to help others.
I do not blog everyday or very frequently, but if i do blog, I make sure my blog post is full of rich content and viewpoints regarding the topic. My favorite word count for my blog posts is above 1000 words

My Blog Adventure
I also come in as one of the Top 20 World’s Coolest Intern in 2010. Thanks for my blog and social networks and many friends support too. So you see, it’s really fun to have a blog, and then doing great stuffs with it!
Sometime in April 2011, I also share the stage with a few influencers in Social Media scene in Singapore, to speak at Nestle Annual Convention. i share my experiences as a blogger, and a social media user (probably they see me too addicted to online stuffs, that’s why
I’m also a blogging mentor for Youth.SG Ultimate Campus Spy Network, to guide several campus spies aged 17-25 years old in blogging interesting (and juicy stuffs) about their schools. While hanging out with the young bloggers, I feel young and energetic teaching them all I know too!
In Nov 2011, I embarked on a trip to China as part of a Singapore 7-men delegation team to the China-ASEAN Youth Camp 2011. Journalists from mainstream and online(alternative) media from China and 10 ASEAN countries gathered together in this 7 days trip in Nanning, Tianjin and Beijing of China. One of the most enriching, yet fun-filled trips I ever had!
For more updated adventures, read here.
I also love online marketing. I wouldn’t say I’m an expert in online marketing strategies like SEO, Article Marketing, List Building, Social Media Marketing…etc, but at least I could say I’m quite good at some, and achieve significant results from these strategies too

What I’m Not Doing
While I do love blogging, and writing to share my opinions and knowledge, I’m not really a typical blogger that you see. I do not blog everyday, I do not make money by placing ads on my blog, I hardly do product reviews or advertorials, and I’m not looking to form big blogging communities.
A blog can do wonders. You can blog for cash, for communities, for fame or for fun. There’s nothing wrong with that. In fact, I use my blog for all that before. But now, I prefer to direct my blog for a sole purpose – to share with you why I do what I do.

If I’m Not Online…
I do love public speaking, and also a Treasurer of my NTU Toastmasters Club. I also love to play my violin of 16 years, and sometimes I do record my violin pieces and upload them to YouTube. I also do perform solo for my church too! Love it! I also love soccer, and play as a goalie. My favorite football club: Arsenal FC!
